David Lang, aka Davers, is best known for his body of work as a founding member of Victoria, B.C.’s Current Swell. After over a decade of writing, recording and touring in Canada, USA, Europe, Australia and Brazil, Davers finds himself “finally stepping out” and recording a solo EP for release this November with Oscar St Records. The 5 songs recorded in early 2018 with producer/ engineer Colin Stewart (Dan Mangan, Black Mountain, Cave Singers) have a definitive feeling that can’t be described as happy or sad, fast or slow, but somehow… moving. After Stewart heard the demo versions of the songs he told Davers, “I Watched You Grow Up is a banger”. The jangly, folky, driving pulse of the EP’s single delves into Lang’s recent step into fatherhood, a topic tastefully touched on throughout the record. The self-titled EP, ‘Davers’, invites you into the songwriter’s world of both light and dark, where you’re sure to leave as friends.
"This five-song outing is for when the November rains roll in and the best thing in the world is a cabin with a roaring fire.”
